The CBS Corporation is a publicly traded media conglomerate with interests in television, radio, outdoor advertising, interactive and publishing. The television segment includes the namesake television network, the Showtime Networks and the CW network, a joint venture started in 2006 with Time Warner.

Other holdings include CBS RADIO, more than 100 radio stations, Simon & Schuster Publishing and CBS Records.

From 1999 to 2005, CBS was part of Viacom. But it was then broken off as a separate company. Sumner Redstone, the chairman of both companies, controls them through his holdings in National Amusements, a private firm founded by Sumner’s father in 1936 that is based in Massachusetts and operates more than 1,000 movie theaters around the world. National Amusements holds controlling voting interests in CBS and Viacom. Viacom has its own listing on this site.
