Radio One is one of the nation’s largest radio broadcasting companies and the largest radio broadcasting company that primarily targets African American and urban listeners. Radio One owns and/or operates over 50 radio stations in 16 urban markets in the U.S. —Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, Richmond, St. Louis and Washington. Additionally, Radio One owns Magazine One, interests in TV One (a cable/satellite network programming primarily to African Americans) and Reach Media.

Radio One was founded by Catherine L. Hughes in 1980 and is headquartered in Lanham, Md. The company’s initial public offering of common stock was on May 5, 1999.
